The Eco Living Centre is a store in Sydney offering a range of Eco Friendly products. They wanted to revamp their existing website and promote their business online in order to generate more visitors to their store and more traffic online. They also wanted to improve their eCommerce functionality so they could increase their online sales.
EcoLivingCentre were initially accepted on our Comanche Plan, which enabled us to analyse and perform on-page optimization of the site and design an off-page package to generate more targetted traffic.
Early on in the project we advised that simply restructuring the site content and meta-data would not give the desired results and that replatforming the site onto a more flexible content management system would reap more benefit at an acceptable cost. This resulted in upgrading their Plan to Inca and the redevelopment of the site onto our preferred CMS system. We were also able to add a Forum and Link Exchange features as part of the project, as well as using various additional SEO plugins to help attract the search engines.
As a result of this the site has enjoyed spectacular improvements, including:
- Ecommerce functionality generating sales.
- Greater brand awarness.
- Increased visibilty in web searches.
- Greater ability to manage and edit content.
Alistair Duncan of Ecoliving had this to say:
“Keith, I would just like to thank you and your team, especially Adrian for the development of our new web site. We have found that there has been a continually improvement in traffic and phone calls. In addition we get positive feed-back about the web site.
Awareness for Eco Living Centre is key and we first started out with a simple home grown web site 2 years ago. Realising it needed to be up-graded we initially went with a web developer and an off the shelf solution but it attracted even less traffic than our home grown first effort. This was despite using Goggle ad-words and doubling the budget to increase traffic. Fortunately SEOTribal approached us about their web optimisation program. We listened to their advice and agreed to the steps we had to do to make the new web site work.
The web site is now our most important marketing and advertising medium and will continue to grow in importance. It looks professional and offers viewers a one-stop-shop for all matters on water and energy saving. SEOTribal developed the site and then guided us through the process to make the site relevant to our target audience. We now can keep the web site up to-date with our ever expanding range of products and relevant with blogs, RS feeds and an eco directory, all from our own PC. Overall we are very pleased with the site and are enthusiastic for its future.
Eco Living Centre is a business designed to attract a wide range of customers from domestic, commercial and Local Government who are concerned with water and energy saving. ”

Do you give advice (price?) prior to websites being designed, particularly regarding the types of designs to steer cclear of and those that are serviceable and ones that are better long term?
My assumption is that off the shelf types that can’t be (easily) optimised are not worth spending money on. Then there are off the shelf types that seem to be workable and then full custom design. With the latter, there appears to be a number of options (We’ve talked dreamweaver designers and a company that uses css amongst the mix of people we’ve approached).
Any feedback you’re willing to give is appreciated.
